Fire Warden
This 4 hour Fire Warden course will allow attendees to implement the plans, procedures and measures concerning fire in the workplace and also learn to evacuate staff safely using Fire Warden Training techniques.
Fire Warden Training - Workplace Obligations
There is a legal requirement on employers to prepare an Emergency Plan that outlines how the workplace will be evacuated in the event of a fire outbreak. Fire Wardens are designated the responsibility of executing this plan in an emergency situation. This course aims to inform Fire Wardens of their responsibilities in running a fire drill effectively and safety. It also details the steps involved in developing an Emergency Plan for the workplace, in the event that one does not currently exist.
Section 11(1)(c) of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 states that the employer is required to:
“designate employees to implement the plans, procedures and measures concerning fire and emergency. These designated employees are commonly called fire wardens or fire officers”

- Use portable fire extinguishers effectively
- Manage and control evacuations
- Describe the chemistry of fire
- Monitor fire controls
- Assist in the management of evacuation procedures/drills

Site Requirements for In Company Training
- An area with space for table and chairs and room for a projector and screen. The area must be distraction free.
- A practical demonstration of fire extinguishers can be incorporated into this course by prior arrangement with swim 21.
- Fire extinguishers can either be supplied by you or hired through swim 21 at an extra fee of €50. Please note that the use of fire extinguishers during this training requires a wide-open space where a practical demonstration can take place safely.

RENEWALPARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO RENEW THEIR TRAINING BY COMPLETING THE COURSE AGAIN. RENEWALS SHOULD HAPPEN PRIOR TO CERTIFICATION EXPIRY OF 2 YEARS
